Year established: 2007 Number of recipients: Five (one for each of the disciplines of psychiatry, neurosurgery, pediatrics, neurology and basic medical science) Number of past prize winners: 10 Recipients will receive: A certificate of award (and small cash award from the President) Name of prize: Japan Epilepsy Society Sponsored AwardObject of award: Attendance of educational course etc. conducted by the International League Against Epilepsy Eligibility of candidate: A member of the Japan Epilepsy Society who is engaged in clinical treatment of epilepsy, and has submitted original article to “Journal of the Japan Epilepsy Society” or “Epilepsy & Seizure” as the first author or has presented for the past two consecutive years at the Annual Congress of Japan Epilepsy Society Year established: 2008 Number of recipients: No more than 10 each year Number of past prize winners: 6 Recipients will receive: An award of ¥500,000 as expenditure to attend educational course etc. conducted by the International League Against Epilepsy Name of prize: JES ScholarshipObject of award: Young researchers in epileptology in the Asian Oceanian Region Eligibility of candidate: The applicant should fulfill the following conditions: a medical doctor; scheduled to engage in research in a Japanese institution for 6 months or longer; under 35 years of age at the time of application; the receiving research institution in Japan and the study period have been decided at the time of application; submit the curriculum vitae together with a recommendation letter from a member of Japan Epilepsy Society working at the receiving institution.
